Receiving fraud
Receiving fraud is loss that comes in through the dock. The vendor delivers less than the invoice states, the invoice arrives with an inflated quantity or price, or the person checking in colludes with the driver to receive goods that never arrived. In all three cases, inventory records goods that did not come in.
How it happens
When the dock is busy, checking in is often reduced to a signature. Cases are counted at a glance, mixed pallets go unopened and direct store deliveries skip the controls of the distribution center. When there is collusion, the receiver accepts a full invoice for a partial delivery and the difference is split outside the company.
Warning signs
Unloading too fast for the invoice
Dock time is not consistent with the quantity declared on the invoice.
Shortages repeating with the same vendor
Inventory discrepancies concentrate on items from one vendor or one delivery route.
After-hours receiving
Receipts recorded at times when no check-in team is at the dock.
Vendor return with no physical outbound
The return document is issued and the goods remain in the back room.
Where it shows up
It shows up at the distribution center dock and also in direct store delivery, where check-in is done by the same team that serves the sales floor.
How the Bewacher agent is designed for it
The agent is designed around your operation's receiving flow, from dock to put-away. Every inbound invoice is matched with video of the unloading, the volume moved and the dock time. A discrepancy between the document and what physically came in becomes a case for the responsible team, with the invoice and the video together.

Frequently asked questions
What is a short delivery?
A short delivery is when a vendor delivers less merchandise than the quantity billed on the invoice. It can be a shipping error or an arranged diversion. If check-in misses the shortage at the dock, it only appears in the inventory count, when it is harder to claim it from the vendor.
Does the AI count cases at the dock?
The agent reads unloading volume and dock time in aggregate, rather than counting case by case, and matches them with the inbound invoice. When the unloading is not consistent with what the invoice declares, the receipt becomes a case for checking, with video of the moment.
Does it cover direct store delivery?
Yes. In grocery and pharmacy, part of the merchandise goes straight to the store, bypassing the distribution center and with less checking. The agent applies the same reading to the store's back door, linking the inbound invoice to video of the delivery.
