- Distribution center · dock control
- Challenge
- Knowing how much of the dock is productive time and where the loading and unloading cycle stalls.
- Solution
- An agent designed to read the dock by cycle (loading, unloading or idle) and count the volumes moved.
- Result
- Figures will be added once the client clears them.
01
Context
On a dock, the cost is in the time. With no reading, nobody knows how much of each cycle was work, how much was occupancy with no activity and how long the dock sat free. What isn't measured becomes an estimate, and estimates leave room for gaps between what was loaded and what was invoiced.
02
How the agent was designed
The agent sets a crossing line and classifies each movement as loading, unloading or pass-through. It closes the cycle with the vehicle's arrival, start, finish and departure and counts the volumes moved.
03
What changed
The operation can now see productive and idle time for each cycle, along with the volume moved at each unit. The figures will be added once the client clears them.
